What is a Liposuction?
Liposuction, or lipo, is a procedure that removes excess fat in areas of the body. This procedure is able to reshape and slim down areas you may feel self-conscious about, giving you a more aesthetically pleasing and tighter-looking appearance, enhancing your body’s contours, and improving overall appearance and confidence.
About the Liposuction
Liposuction is able to remove fat from a wide variety of areas on the body, such as the hips, thighs, back, abdomen, buttocks, waist, knees, ankles, calves, chest, arms, neck, cheeks, and chin. In addition, liposuction is able to be performed alongside other procedures, such as a breast reduction or tummy tuck. Liposuction is unable to treat cellulite and is not recommended for those with a poor diet and lack of exercise, as well as obesity. You are a good candidate for liposuction if you are within 30% of your ideal weight. Your surgeon will discuss with you your medical history, and goals with the procedure, evaluate any pre-existing health conditions and risks associated with the procedure, as well as how realistic your goals are, and how much of them can be met. Liposuction is done through small incisions made on desired areas you wish to contour. A cannula, or a thin tube, is inserted into the skin through incisions to loosen up the excess fat. The cannula is then moved in a back-and-forth motion, with the separated fat suctioned out through a syringe or vacuum.
